The Langley Xtreme’s stinginess paid off.

The U14B girls peewee softball rep team allowed 10 runs over six games in capturing top spot at an eight-team tournament hosted by the Fleetwood Fastpitch Association over the weekend.

The Xtreme were especially tough in Sunday’s championship round, beating the South Surrey White Rock Thunder ’03 8-1 in the semifinals and then blanking the Bellingham Bash ’03/04 10-0 in the gold-medal championship final.

In round-robin action on Saturday, Langley won 15-1 over the Fleetwood Force ’03, blanked the Squamish Blue Thunder ’03 by a 10-0 score, doubled the Thunder 12-6 and took top spot in their pool with a 9-2 win over the Richmond Islanders ’04 in their final game of day one.
