Tardi rink takes top spot

Local quartet wins gold at BC junior men's curling championship

Team Tardi started 2017 with a bang as they defeated Victoria’s Kyle Habkirk rink to win the BC junior men’s curling championship.

The Langley/Royal City team scored four in both the second and fourth ends to win 11-5 in eight ends in Sunday’s championship final. They were held at the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster.

With the victory, they will now represent B.C. at the 2017 Canadian junior curling championships.

They run Jan. 21 to 29 in Esquimalt.

The team is made up of Cloverdale’s Tyler Tardi (skip) and Jordan Tardi (second) as well as Burnaby’s Sterling Middleton (third) and Langley’s Nicholas Meister (lead).

The rink went 5-2 during preliminary play to finish tied for second and then beat the McCrady rink (Royal City) 7-5 to advance to the championship final.
