Team Tardi, the rink of Langley and New Westminster-based curlers, won the BC Junior Men’s Curling Championship on the first day of 2017.
Team Tardi defeated Kyle Habkirk’s Victoria rink 11-5 in eight ends.
Team Tardi is composed of Cloverdale-based Tyler Tardi (skip), his brother Jordan Tardi (second), Burnaby’s Sterling Middleton (third) and Langley’s Nicholas Meister, (lead).
They scored four in the second and fourth ends to give them a comfortable lead until the teams shook hands at the conclusion.
Team Habkirk took silver and the McCrady Rink of Port Coquitlam, Richmond, and Coquitlam took the bronze.
In the women’s final, Team Brown, featuring members from Kamloops, Nanaimo, and Anmore, clinched a win.
Team Tardi and Team Brown will represent B.C. in the 2017 Canadian Junior Curling Championships set for Jan. 21 to 29 in Esquimalt.
