Tessa Beauchamp was a star basketball player at Holy Cross. She passed away in 2012 after a four-year battle with cancer.

The Langley Thunder are joining the fight against cancer.

The senior A lacrosse team is accepting bids for the team's game-worn jerseys.

The money raised will go towards the Tessa Beauchamp Foundation.

The foundation will consist of scholarships given out year year for basketball players, burn camps and money for cancer research.

The Surrey teen — who was on scholarship to Trinity Western University to play for the Spartans basketball team — passed away from cancer in 2012, just a few weeks prior to her 19th birthday.

Despite her four-year battle with cancer, she was a high school all-star on the basketball court. She also overcame third-degree burns to more than 20 per cent of her body when she was three years old.

Online bidding closes at 10 p.m. on July 23, but bids will still be accepted until the start of the third period of the Thunder's July 24 game at the Langley Events Centre against the New Westminster Salmonbellies.

The winning bidders will then meet the players and collect their jerseys following the game. Those unable to attend, will be contacted afterwards to set up arrangement for payment and jersey delivery.

The current high bid is $200 for the jersey of goaltender Nick Rose.

There are 29 jerseys available.
