Torch rolls into City at 2 p.m.

The City of Langley will host the Olympic torch relay on Monday afternoon. The torch will arrive in the City around 2 p.m. at the intersection of the Langley Bypass and 200 Street. It will then travel south on 200 Street to Fraser Highway, head east to 204 Street and then travel back west on Douglas Crescent to the Surrey border at 196 Street. The Langley Spirit of BC Committee is encouraging people to come watch the relay, wear red and bring Canadian flags to show their support for Canada’s Olympic athletes.

The City will also be putting on a free event with entertainment based around the arrival of the torch at City Hall at Douglas Crescent and 204 Street. There will be music on stage starting at 1 p.m. At 1:20 p.m., there will be a live performance by Westcoast Contortion and Acrobatics, a group that will also be performing at the official opening ceremonies on

Feb. 12.

After the torch passes through the City, there will be a presentation of Olympic event tickets to winners who entered a draw during the City’s Recreation Open House in January.
