Solid starts to the Western Hockey League season have earned three members of the Vancouver Giants and two players from the Langley Rivermen spots on a players to watch list.

Giants centre Milos Roman and goaltenders David Tendeck and Todd Scott were on NHL Central Scouting’s November ‘players to watch’ list released last week (Nov. 15).

Also on that list were the Rivermen’s Brendan Budy and Angus Crookshank.

Roman, an import rookie forward from Slovakia, was given a ‘B’ rating, which speculates that he could be a second or third-round candidate in the 2018 NHL entry draft.

Roman, 18, is fourth on the team with 22 points and second on Vancouver with 16 assists.

He leads all WHL rookies in points.

Tendeck and Scott were both given ‘C’ grades. That grade projects the player to be a fourth, fifth or sixth round draft candidate.

Tendeck, a second-year goaltender in the league, and Scott, a rookie, have split the net through the first 22 games for the Giants.

Tendeck — who turns 18 this week (Nov. 25) — is 6-4-0-0 with a 3.28 goals against average and an .900 save percentage.

The 17-year-old Scott is 4-4-2-0 with a 4.14 GAA and an .886 save percentage.

Budy and Crookshank also each earned ‘C’ grades.

Budy, the Rivermen’s 17-year-old captain, leads the team with 20 assists and 31 points in 27 games and is second with 11 goals. He is slated to attend the University of Denver on scholarship.

Crookshank, 18, missed the start of the season but leads the Rivermen with 13 goals in 19 games. He is also second on the team with 21 points. He has a scholarship to New Hampshire.
