Micaylee Pucilowski and her TWU teammates improved to 8-0 after winning a pair of weekend matches over the Regina Cougars.

The Trinity Western Spartans continued their winning ways, delivering another pair of straight-sets victories to improve to 8-0.

The women's volleyball team — ranked second in the country — defeated Regina 3-0 (25-14,25-14,25-12) and 3-0 (25-10,25-23,25-15) Friday and Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre.

The Spartans have dropped just two sets over the course of their winning streak.

"I love how we started. Early on, that was some of the finest volleyball I have seen this team play," said coach Ryan Hofer.

And the team also showed its depth as after losing a key starter late in the first set, the team did not miss a beat.

"We're deeper than just one player. We have a group of young ladies who can go out there and play in a bunch of different positions and play solid and really keep us rolling in the right direction."

Elly Wendel led the team with 13 kills while Rowyn Neufeld had nine kills and Katelyn Devaney had six kills. Wendel and Devaney each also collected five blocks.

Wendel also led the way Friday with a dozen kills and four aces while Sophie Carpentier had 10 kills and five aces. Nikki Cornwall directed the offence with 22 assists.
