The Trinity Western Spartans beat the Heat twice to stretch their winning streak to four games.
The men's basketball team was in Kelowna over the weekend, taking a pair of games off the UBC Okanagan Heat, 83-77 on Friday and 83-56 on Saturday.
The wins improved the Spartans to 6-6 in Canada West conference play.
"It's good to be back to .500, but the next two games are pivotal for taking a run at the playoffs," said coach Scott Allen.
With their best defensive performance of the Canada West season this year, the Spartans took advantage of a deluge of turnovers and spotty shooting from the Heat.
Sean Peter led the team with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Kurtis Osborne and Calvin Westbrook had 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Niko Monachini was a beast on the boards, grabbing a team-high nine rebounds in just 18 minutes.
Friday's contest saw Trinity Western lead for most of the match before the Heat rallied to take its first lead in the fourth quarter. But the Spartans closed the game on a 12-5 run to seal the win.
Kyle Coston led the way with 20 points while Westbrook and Peter had 19 points apiece.
The Spartans head to the Prairies this weekend, playing in Brandon on Friday and Regina on Saturday.
