Defeats costly as Trinity Western falls down Canada West standings

A pair of costly losses have dropped the Trinity Western Spartans from second to fourth in the Canada West standings.

The women’s volleyball team lost a pair of 3-1 matches to the host Calgary Dinos over the weekend. The results dropped the Spartans to 12-6 on the season.

Calgary won the opener 3-1 (18-25,25-23,25-18,25-12) and then took the second end of the doubleheader, also by a 3-1 score (25-18,25-20,19-25,27-25).

Royal Richardson with 19 kills and Amy Leschied with 17 kills and 10 digs led the Spartans.

In Saturday's match, Amy Leschied with 14 kills and 12 digs, Nicole Bazin with nine kills and two blocks and Royal Richardson with 11 kills and 10 digs and Jodi Neufeld with 17 digs led the Spartans

The Spartans close the Canada West regular season this weekend as they host UBC on Friday and Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.
