First-round draft pick Blake Chorney is taking part in his first Vancouver Giants training camp, which begins Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Langley Events Centre.

For the first time, Vancouver Giants training camp for 2024 WHL draft selections is being held at the team's home arena, Langley Events Centre.

Camp begins with registration on Wednesday, Aug. 28 and concludes with the annual Quinn vs. Howe Legends Cup game on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at the LEC.

On-ice action will start with a group game on Thursday, August 29 at 2 p.m.

Then, returning players, prospects and free agent invites will be grouped into three teams: Team Byram, Team Gallagher and Team Lucic, who will play a series of intrasquad games on Friday, Aug.30 beginning at 2 p.m.

All ice sessions and the Quinn/Howe game are open to the public for free.

It is the first training camp for the 2024 selections, including first-round pick Blake Chorney and third-round pick Landon Horiachka, who each signed with the club earlier this summer.

Chorney, a 5'11," 182 lb. forward was a dominating force for Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) this past season, helping the program secure their second consecutive U15 Prep Western Championship in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL)

Horiachka, a 6'2," 186 lb. forward, finished third in scoring in the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) U15 Division this past season with 64 points in 31 games (25G-39A), while serving as captain for his hometown Sherwood Park Flyers.

Following camp, the Giants will play four preseason games,  beginning with back-to-back games at Jon Baillie Arena in Port Coquitlam on Sept. 7 and 8 versus the Victoria Royals.

G-Men will also play the Kelowna Rockets on the road Sept. 14  and host the Rockets on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Ladner Leisure Centre.

Their first regular season game is set for Friday, Sept. 20, hosting the Seattle Thunderbirds at LEC at 7 p.m.

In the 2023-24 season, Giants made the playoffs, but lost to the Everett Silvertips.
