You never know what’ll happen when you host a half marathon in Metro Vancouver in February, but the Historic Half Marathon turned out to be a rousing success, according to race director

The 13th annual began bright and early on Sunday, Feb. 19 from the Fort Langley National Historic Site and also finished at the site, as well.

With staggered starts, the half marathon was followed those running the 10-km and 5-km routes. At noon, a 1-km kids run was held inside the site with young participants doing laps.

All 520 runners involved in the different routes finished their races, and about 20 kids participated.

All donations and the pledges go to the Langley Hospice Society which, provides emotional, practical and spiritual support for people who are living with a terminal illness, their family and friends, throughout the last stages of illness, at the time of death and bereavement.
