What is Langley's Praetorian Race?

There's still some room for contestants in the Praetorian Race Saturday.

The Praetorian Race on Saturday will take people through either five- or 10-kilometre courses with various obstacles.

And for this, contestants will know they are helping people who have served this country. The Oct. 3 event at Murray Creek Ranch, 3652 216th St., benefits Wounded Warriors Canada.

The race consists of more than 15 man-made challenges or obstacles over a five-km route.

Praetorian? These were the best of the best in the ancient Roman military. Service in the guard was an honoured position, and was considered elite status for a soldier.

The race is named that to encourage people to try their best, and have some fun doing it. The first race was August 2014 and now there are several races in different communities.
