Xtreme 99 bring B.C. gold back to Langley

Langley capped a fine season that started in January by taking the provincial title last weekend in Sicamous.

The Langley Xtreme 99 celebrated their B.C. girls softball championship victory last weekend.

The Langley Xtreme 99 girls fastball team are the queens of B.C., after winning the U18B provincial gold medal in Sicamous last weekend .

After a 2-2 record in round robin, the Xtreme rounded into form and marched to the B.C. final, where they downed the Coquitlam Classics 9-2.

After rain delays, and a so-so round robin, the team quickly regrouped for the playoffs and went undefeated for the balance of the weekend, first getting by Cloverdale Fury 4-2, then meeting Kawston Koyotes and defeating them 12-3.

This was followed by an 11-2 win over Coquitlam Classics, moving the Xtreme into the gold medal game which ended up being a rematch against Coquitlam.

The Classics scored first and went up 1-0 but Langley quickly came back with a five-run inning, and Coquitlam could not catch them.

This season, the team put up a record of 53-18-4, starting in January in a tournament in California and culminating in the provincial gold.

The Langley Xtreme 99 are: Remy Brayshaw, Andria Coulbourn, Jennifer Delaney, Mackenzie Emerson, Taelor Griffiths, Britney Ingham, Sara Mior, Emily Morrison, Taylor Quechuck, Jordyn Scott, Calista Thirsk, and Jessie Wright.

The team is coached by Shawn Brayshaw, Bob Ingham, Lianne Scott, Christy Thompson, and Montana Turnovitski.
