The Langley Xtreme beat the Heat in Kelowna, taking top spot at the Kelowna Fastball Spring Sizzle tournament.

After the Kelowna Heat rallied to tie the game at five, the Langley Xtreme scored the go-ahead run and then held off a Heat rally attempt to capture top spot at the Kelowna Fastball Spring Sizzle tournament.

The tournament was held June 3 to 5 in Kelowna.

The Xtreme 2004 softball team edged the host Heat side 6-5 in the gold medal game.

After exchanging one run apiece in the early going, Langley built up a 5-1 lead in the fourth inning before the Heat battled back.

It was Langley’s second straight one-run game as they edged the Richmond Islanders 5-4 to advance to the championship game.

They also beat the South Delta Invaders 8-1 in their other playoff game.

In Langley’s round-robin game, they went 2-1 over their three preliminary round games.

They lost 8-2 to Kelowna — the team they beat in the finals — before defeating the Coquitlam Classics 11-2 and the Chilliwack Venom 10-7.
