Aldergrove site of drought education workshop for agricultural sector

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship have organized a workshop called Decoding Drought.

At these workshops, farmers will receive practical, step-by-step water management advice and information about available financial support.

Drought Management Engagement Sessions will provide an overview of the financial support available to producers to prepare for and reduce the impacts of drought, as well as information about water management under the Water Sustainability Act.

The session in Aldergrove is Monday, March 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Hall, 26770 29th Ave.

There are sessions in Surrey on March 5 and Chilliwack on March 12.

The even will include drought management in relation to the Water Sustainability Act (WSA).

There will be a presentation and discussion led by the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship. Participants will learn how are water management decisions made during a drought, what information is considere,d and what tools are used?

There will also be information on drought preparedness and response, and the role of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food will also cover topics such as drought resources and supports are offered by the ministry and its role before and during drought.
