Langley City council was presented with a cheque for $10,000 on Tuesday afternoon.

Naomi Yamamoto, B.C.’s minister of state for small business, and Langley MLA Mary Polak presented the cheque in the foyer of City Hall.

The City was one of seven B.C. communities that won an Open for Business Award last month.

The award recognizes local policies, projects and programs that support small business. The money will be used by the City to fund a local, small-business friendly program that aligns with the principles of the B.C. Small Business Accord.

Following the presentation, Yamamoto and Polak toured some of the small businesses in downtown Langley.
