Walnut Grove students survive Gators Den

Nine hundreds dollars in scholarships awarded to three WGSS students as part off annual trade show and Gators Den contest

Anna Hwang took top spot at the Walnut Grove annual trade show and Gators Den last week (May 26).

Hwang (Young Entrepreneurs: YE$) won a scholarship for $600.

Keaton Lawlor (Original Image) and Trevor Hawley (Delicious Delights) were the second and third-place finishers, winning $400 and $200 scholarships, respectively.

The students are part of the Walnut Grove Secondary Grade 11 marketing class and Grade 12 entrepreneurship class.

The event was put on by the Walnut Grove Business Association and through Bruce Young, a Walnut Grove teacher.

The judging was done by representatives from financial institutions — Bikram Gill (RBC), Manay Sahota (VanCity), Julie Powell (G&F Financial), Patricia Case (CIBC), Dylan Fraser (Coast Capital) and Kyle Blais (TD), as well as Ron McKnight (McDonald's) and Kim Wishinski (Kids in the Grove).
