Learn to Fish: A Fraser River Experience is Aug. 18 at Derby Reach Regional Park.

From 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 18, kids ages seven to 15 can learn to fish, courtesy of the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC, the Watershed Watch Salmon Society, and Metro Vancouver.

Adults must accompany the children. Sign up at fraservalley@gofishbc.com or 604-504-4716.

It’s free for kids to take part in this program and a free tidal fishing licence must be filled out on site.

Outdoor movie

Spend Saturday evening with a bunch of animals when the animated movie Zootopia is shown in Douglas Park.

People should bring lawn chairs and blankets. The movies gets underway at 8:30 p.m. and there’s a paid concession for those who want treats. Admission to the movie is free.

New music

Local country artist Dallas Smith will be back in B.C. with some company for the start of a tour. Smith performs Sept. 10 in Vancouver with Keith Urban’s ripCORD World Tour 2016. Smith is taking on the Canadian leg of the tour.

His new single Autograph will be released Aug. 24 with the rest of the recording called Side Effects coming out Sept. 2.

A Juno Award and Canadian Country Music Association award winner, including the 2015 Juno for country album of the year, and 2015 CCMA award for album of the year, Smith is nominated for four 2016 CCMA awards including fans’ choice, male artist, single of the year and interactive artist.
