There’s a variety of ways to help out those in need this holiday season in Langley.
Realtors in Langley are running their 24th annual Realtors Care Blanket Drive from Nov. 13 to 20.
Last year, the Langley realtors collected 165 bags of winter clothing and blankets for the community.
This year, the group is partnered with Gateway of Hope, the Ishtar Transition Housing Society, and Wagner Hills Ministry.
The organizations are looking for the following donations:
- Gate of Hope: blankets, new socks and underwear for men and women
- Ishtar Transition Housing Society: new underwear, pajamas and sweatpants for women
- Wagner Hills Ministry: warm clothing and rain gear
There are 10 drop-off locations in Langley that can be found at www.rebgv.org/blanket-drive-drop-locations.
Fraser Valley Real Estate Board president John Barbisan said the drive goes to help someone directly in the community.
“Anything you can give that’s in good shape - an unused blanket, spare coat, even a pair of mittens - will directly help someone in need in your area get through this time of year.”
Another way to help keep the community cozy this winter is to donate to the Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association’s 23rd annual Coats for Kids campaign.
This organization is collecting coats in support of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau from now until Nov. 30 at four locations in Langley that can be found at https://gvhba.org/event/coatsforkids/.
Coats for Kids is accepting new and gently used coats, scarves, gloves, blankets, and new unwrapped toys and gifts for children of all ages.
