Friends and family were always very important for Andrew Vaydo (with hat), who passed away in July 2011.

The second annual Float Your Boat For A Cure runs Sunday, April 21 at Derby Reach Park.

With each donation, participants receive a paper boat to float in the river and to dedicate it to the fight against cancer, a survivor or in memory to a lost loved one.

The fundraiser is done in memory of Andrew Vaydo, who passed away in 2011 after a two-year battle with Lymphoma.

It is organized by Team Andrew Forever and works to raise funds on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk.

The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. and will also feature family-friendly activities with entertainment, face-painting, food and a bouncy castle.

Last year's event raised $2,000 and organizers are hoping to at least double that.
