Troy Landreville/Langley Advance: Hi there: Christian Barkley, 21 months, had an up-close look at a three-toed box turtle brought to Animals in the Plaza at McBurney Lane on Saturday. The tiny 35-year-old turtle was brought to the interactive event by the Urban Safari Rescue Society. The next McBurney Plaza Summer Series event will be a circus event on Sept. 26.

Breathing easier: The Langley Memorial Hospital Critical Care Unit will receive a transport defibrillator with a $20,000 donation from RBC Foundation. In addition to providing an electrical shock to the heart, a transport defibrillator is able to monitor a patient’s vital signs during transport. The Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation has a goal of having a transport defibrillator on each floor of the hospital.
