PAC members at Nicomekl Elementary School are asking the community for help in raising $84,000 for a new playground.
On Saturday, June 2, join the parents at Murrayville Pub from 6 to 9 p.m. for the “Party for a Playground” fundraiser.
Tickets are $30 each, or $50 for a pair, and include a roast beef buffet with all the trimmings, and choice of alcoholic beverage (beer, wine or highball).
In a fundraising letter, PAC president Carmen Phelan said the $84K is a “big goal,” but one the PAC members are confident they can accomplish through fundraisers and grants.
“Our intermediate playground is in desperate need of replacement,” Phelan wrote. “Throughout the year we offer hot lunches, popcorn sales, Entertainment Book sales, frozen food sales to name just a few, in an attempt to raise money for the playground, but many of our families are unable to participate in all our fundraisers.”
There will also be a raffle and silent auction at the pub night, and donations for these draws are still being accepted. Some of the prizes include a $500 BBQ package, date night package, boy’s night out and more.
“We are excited at the opportunity to offer this fabulous new play and learning space not only for the students in our school, but all the children in the community who use the school for many after school activities,” Phelan wrote.
“Nicomekl Elementary values our community and always appreciates your support.”
