EcoBlitz is the perfect opportunity to help improve Metro Vancouver's local parks.
Every day, thousands of people walk, run, go for a bike or horse ride, and enjoy nature in Metro Vancouver’s Regional Parks and Greenways. These natural areas are also critical habitat for a wealth of wildlife from butterflies to salamanders, and bald eagles to mountain goats. And, our regional parks also provide benefits like clean air and water, and ecosystems services that we all depend on.
“We are so fortunate to have a wealth of nature in our region, and EcoBlitz was designed to offer fun, community-building experiences that will help to care for the ecological health of our regional parks, and make them even better places to visit and to retain their vibrancy for future generations,” said Heather Deal, Chair of Metro Vancouver’s Regional Parks Committee.
The second annual EcoBlitz features 23 events in 10 regional parks throughout Metro Vancouver from October 17th to 25th.
- Saturday, Oct. 17, Campbell Valley Regional Park, Langley: Help create a pollinator meadow where butterflies and bumblebees can flourish.
- Sunday, Oct. 18, help turns an old raspberry farm in Aldergrove Regional Park back into natural space..
Metro Vancouver will provide equipment (i.e. gloves, dibbles, trowels, etc.) and refreshments. Simply come prepared to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. Sturdy footwear is recommended.

Local communities are committed to caring for Metro Vancouver’s regional parks, and volunteers augment the work of park staff by contributing their time and expertise. Last year, 4,700 volunteers provided close to 14,000 hours of their time to environmental stewardship in regional parks across Metro Vancouver.
