Writer-photographer Mark Zelinski will be in Langley on Friday, Sept. 30 for a power point presentation and book signing at the Chapters store on the Langley Bypass. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Zelinski is donating 6,000 new hardcover books to children’s charities around the world, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley, the Canadian Red Cross Western Zone, SOS Children’s Village, B.C., Free the Children and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Trained as an artist and a designer at The Ontario College of Art and Design, the Oakville native possesses an uncommon ability to compose and communicate through the photographic medium. He has enjoyed a diverse career as a professional photographer since 1977, and is also a publisher, writer, painter, filmmaker and winner of the Canadian Governor General’s Medal. Zelinski has published seven internationally acclaimed photography books, which include forewords by HRH Prince Philip, His Majesty King Constantine and Justin Trudeau.
“My heroes are the social workers, volunteers and charities that work every day to help others,” said Zelinski.
“I think we need to see the human race as a family, and it’s exciting for me to use my photography books as a gift for children and a tool for charities around the world.”
