On Saturday, Nov. 11, Canadians from coast to coast will pause to reflect, remember and give thanks to those who have sacrificed their lives to protect the freedom we enjoy today.
In the Langleys, Remembrance Day will be honoured with four different ceremonies, including a brand new service in Murrayville.
Fort Langley
Where: Fort Langley Cemetery, 23105 St. Andrews Ave.
Time: Parade begins at 10:25 a.m., service at 10:40 a.m.
This large service will begin with a procession at the west end of the Fort Langley Cemetery near St. Andrew’s Street and Nash Street, led by a piper and colour party. Following them will be members of the clergy, veterans, RCMP, Armed Forces Canada, fire department, elected officials, Kwantlen First Nation elders and Scouts Canada. The parade will make its way toward the cenotaph through the cemetery, passing by the graves of nearly 300 veterans who are buried there. The service will then begin at 10:40 a.m., with a flypast by the Fraser Blues vintage aircraft team at 11 a.m. Songs will be led by the Langley Community Chorus.

Murrayville
Where: Murrayville Cemetery, 21405 44 Ave.
Time: Service begins at 10:45 a.m.
The first official service at this 1921 cenotaph will feature recorded music before and after the ceremony, the reading of poems, a soloist, a bugler and laying of wreaths. There will also be 240 flags lining the cemetery road leading up to the cenotaph.

Langley City
Where: Douglas Park cenotaph,20399 Douglas Cres.
Time: Parade begins at 10:30 a.m., service at 10:50 a.m.
The annual Langley City ceremony will start with a procession led by the air cadets pipe band, veterans, armed forces, first responders, and members of the Brownies, Guides and Scouts groups. The parade will begin near 206 Street and Salt Lane and head towards the cenotaph in Douglas Park. At 10:50 a.m. the service will start, with a flypast by the Fraser Blues at 11:05 a.m. Organizers recommend that members of the public arrive between 9:45 and 10 a.m.
Aldergrove
Where: Aldergrove Legion, 26607 Fraser Highway
Time: Parade begins at 10:45 a.m., service at 10:50 a.m.
The Aldergrove Legion is hosting activities throughout the day on Nov. 11. The morning begins with a Remembrance Day ceremony at the Legion’s cenotaph. At 10:45 a.m. a parade will travel from Old Yale Road at 268 Street, and down Fraser Highway to the Legion. The ceremony will begin at 10:50 a.m. and include hymns, poems, messages, two minutes of silence, laying of wreaths and a flypast by the Fraser Blues. Immediately after the ceremony, the public is welcome to head inside the Legion for entertainment and a potluck. A band will play from 2 to 6 p.m., and karaoke will be held from 7 to 11 p.m.
