Step into the wild at the Canadian Museum of Flight

Things have gone a little wild at the Canadian Museum of Flight.

The museum at the Langley Airport is prepping for its annual fundraising dinner and auction on Sept. 15 — Into the Wild, A Celebration of the Great Canadian Bush Pilot.

“This year’s event is a departure from the traditional semi-formal gala format. So we have rented a tent and some of the event will be taken out into the tarmac,” said museum director and event chair, Tania Ryan.

The highlights of the evening include a talk by a bona fide bush pilot, who will regale the attendees with some of his stories from the 1950s, and a live auction that features a trip for two to Yellowknife, N.W.T. — the land of the real “Ice Pilots” — to tour the Buffalo Airways hangar.

Attendees can also enjoy beverages from the Northern Lights Bar and Lounge, located under the tent, fun outdoor games, a hangar dinner complete with a Cookhouse Gourmet buffer, and entertainment that reflects some of the great Canadian songs and music from the north.

Tickets for the event are $75 per person, or $400 for a table of six, and can be purchased at the museum or online at canadianflight.org by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
