Arts Briefs: Summer activities kicking off

Party in the Plaza is the first of the summer activities in McBurney Plaza.

The sound of steel drums will be in the air. Match Eatery & Public House will be barbecuing and 2015 Country Music Nominee Andrew Christopher will perform. Also part of the party is a summertime photo booth, cool treats, and caricature by Corycatures.

Activities run noon to 3 p.m.

Watch for details up other plaza events throughout summer.

What is sensual?

The new exhibit at the Fort Gallery appeals to the senses.

Called sen-su-al, the exhibit explores sensuality through the eyes of artists and runs June 29 to July 17. For more, go to fortgallery.ca.

Voting wraps up

Langley-raised Shylo Sharity is the only finalist outside of Ontario at the Boots & Hearts performing showcase by SiriusXM Canada.

The August showcase is to spotlight emerging artists, and the public is asked to vote online to determine performance slots. Sharity is in second place right now and people have until June 24 to vote.
