LCMS artistic director emeritus Ian Hampton will celebrate his 80th birthday on March 13 as the school hosts its annual Faculty Benefit Concert.

A birthday celebration may be the perfect opportunity to give the gift of music.

Langley Community Music School’s (LCMS) Annual Faculty Benefit Concert will be held on Friday March 13, at 7 p.m. in Rose Gellert Hall.

The annual fundraising concert will include a special tribute this year, as one of Langley’s own stars, LCMS artistic director emeritus and renowned cellist Ian Hampton, is celebrating his 80th birthday the night of the concert.

The community is invited to enjoy an eclectic musical evening, with performances that will range from classical to jazz and everything in between — including the premiere of new works commissioned in honour of Ian Hampton.

LCMS faculty members will join Hampton in donating their performances for this fundraising event.  Admission is by donation.

All proceeds go towards the Ian Hampton Commissioning Fund, which provides funds to support the commissioning of new works by Canadian composers.

“We are very fortunate to have so many great performing artists at LCMS,” said LCMS principal, Susan Magnusson.

“The faculty are very excited to be organizing this musical tribute to Ian Hampton for his 80th birthday.

“It will be a night to remember.”

LCMS’ Rose Gellert Hall is located at 4899 207 St.
