Feds pay to shoot, drop, and burn auto parts - for science!

A grant to a Langley non-profit will allow auto testing.

Langley MP mark Warawa announced $90,000 in funding for a Langley facility that tests alternative fuel vehicles.

The Canadian Standards Association will get the funding to create a field test site to certify high-pressure hydrogen and compressed natural gas components for the auto industry.

The CSA will use the facility for destructive testing, including gunfire penetration, bonfires, and drop impact testing of items like hydrogen fuel cell containers.

The site will also allow certification services to local colleges and universities.

“Our facility in Langley specializes in testing and certification for alternative fuel source vehicles and components,” said CSA regional vice president Nashir Jiwani. “CSA Group is proud to encourage the adoption of new technologies that contribute to a more sustainable world.”

“This investment will help stimulate the economy and strengthen the west’s reputation in the clean energy industry,” said Warawa.
