After a decade of hosting free art critiques in Langley, Lalita Hamill is passing on her role to a new artist.

Starting in January, 2018, Amy J. Dyck will take over as the new facilitator of the monthly critiques.

But before the buck is officially passed, the Langley Arts Council (LAC) is hosting one last session with Hamill.

Artists who have been impacted by Hamill’s contribution or are interested in her feedback on their work, are invited to attend her last critique for the LAC at the City of Langley Library on Nov. 28 from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.

“The LAC would like to thank artist Lalita Hamill for her decade of service to visual artists in the Langley Community and surrounding area through her facilitation of the free monthly Art Critiques,” the organization said in a letter to the Times.

“Over the past decade Lalita has become a powerhouse of knowledge and skill, she has given generously of her time and heart sharing her vast understanding of the visual language to artists across the lower mainland through these gatherings.

“Her wisdom and encouragement is her gift to us, and has proven very significant to many growing artists who have attended these events over the years, some of whom have now established themselves in the community as professionals in the arts.”
