Langley man killed in crash

A motorcycle collision near a Surrey border crossing killed one man and injured a woman.

A 32-year-old Langley man was killed and his 22-year-old passenger injured in a two vehicle crash in south Cloverdale July 25.

On Saturday at approximately 9 p.m., the Surrey was called to a collision which occurred on 8th Avenue, and the intersection of 172nd Street involving a motorcycle and a car, reported S/Sgt. M.A. Hedderson of the Surrey detachment.

Surrey Traffic Services and Surrey Detachment General duty members attended to the scene.

A 2003 Saturn, being driven by a resident of North Vancouver, was west bound on 8th Avenue, and was turning left onto 172nd Strett when it was in collision with a motorcycle, travelling east bound on 8th Avenue.

“The two persons on the motorcycle were ejected,” Hedderson explained. “The male driver of the motorcycle, a 32-year-old resident of Langley- was deceased at the scene. The female passenger, a 22 year old resident of Surrey was transported to hospital by Air Ambulance in serious condition.”

Speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in this collision, he added.

The road way around 8th Avenue, between 176th St and Hwy #99 was closed overnight for the investigation.

Surrey RCMP  are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or observed the vehicles involved prior to the collision  to call the Surrey detachment. at 604-599-0502 or to call Crime Stoppers.
