Langley talent takes top spots at country music awards

Langley's Dallas Smith brought home six awards at the B.C. Country Music Association Awards on Oct. 25.

Langley is a hotspot in B.C. for country music.

Several local musicians either from, or formerly from, Langley took home trophies at this year’s B.C. Country Music Association Awards, held in Coquitlam on Sunday, Oct. 25.

Dallas Smith tops the list with six awards including album of the year for Lifted, entertainer of the year, fans choice award, male vocalist of the year, single of the year for Wastin’ Gas and website of the year.

Chad Brownlee won Socan Songwriter of the Year with fellow Langley writer Mitch Merrett for When The Lights Go Down, and video of the year.

Local lady Karen Lee Batten tied with Maple Ridge’s Madeline Merlo for female vocalist of the year.

And Langley’s Linda Corscadden won the Don Adam’s Country Music Person of the Year and the Presidents Citation Award.
