A twist on a timeless tale is coming to Langley for the holiday season.

Theatre in the Country is bringing the classic nativity story of Mary and Joseph to life with the musical Two From Galilee on stage from Dec. 5 to 15.

The story follows Mary and Joseph on their journey through love and an unexpected pregnancy.

Theatre in the Country artistic director and producer Reg Parks, said the story is “unique.”

“Two from Galilee is a unique perspective on the nativity story. It’s told through the love story of Mary and Joseph, so considering the idea of Mary and Joseph being young and wanting to get married, then she gets a visit from an angel that she’s going to give birth to the Messiah and she has to tell her husband she’s pregnant but she doesn’t know how. It’s the starting point of the human side to that story.”

Parks said the show that touches on faith, love, and hope can be enjoyed by all ages.

“I think the story is fascinating. It’s changed how we tell time and dates so it’s a pretty pivotal story in the course of humanity. It’s unique, there’s magic, divine intervention, angels, shepherds, wise men, and a great cast of characters that tell this amazing tale from 2,000 years ago,” said Parks.

The lead role of Mary is played by Langley local Cassie Unger.
