What we ask of the hills, and what the hills ask of us

Fort Gallery's new show, featuring B.C. artist Zuzana Vasko, starts today (Oct.7).

The Fort Gallery his hosting B.C. artist Zuzana Vasko in a solo show, What we ask of the hills, and what the hills ask of us, until Oct. 25.

Vasko, a mixed media artist, has been researching and pondering how people relate to the natural world, and how it could be done in ways that better benefit both ourselves and nature.

Her exhibition explores these questions in a ways that, while they address broader social contexts, are very personal as well. Many of the pieces have a journalistic quality to them and consider the daily nature of life.

On Thursday, Oct. 8, there will be an opening reception in conjunction with the ‘First Thursday’ community arts events, from 7-9 p.m., with Agneta and Josine Eikelenboom on cello and recorder, and a talk by the artist on her work.

Everyone is welcome to this free event.

The Fort Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, 12-5 p.m. and is located at 9048 Glover Rd.
