July 11, 1948 - March 20, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Barry LaForge, who passed away on March 20, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who lived a life full of love, laughter and adventure. He was predeceased by his parents, Darwin and Lorraine, and siblings Barbara, Arnold, Lori, Bob and Eric. He will be truly missed by his wife of 50 years, Catriona, sons Jonas and Greg (Andrea), grandchildren Chauntel (Mitchell), Hailey, James and Jakob, and great-granddaughter Brynnley, and his sister Marilyn (Bob) and family in Alberta.
Barry was born in Westlock, Alberta on July 11, 1948. His career in sales took him to many places across Canada before settling down in the lower mainland of B.C. His love of travel continued with many trips with his family around the world. He always enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and golfing with friends and family. In retirement, Barry and Catriona enjoyed many R.V. trips, making new friends everywhere they travelled. Among Barry's most cherished memories were times spent with his grandchildren. He was a master at card games and loved to challenge anyone to a game of crib or poker.
Barry will be remembered as a kind and caring person who always put others before himself. He had a heart of gold and a genuine interest in the lives of those around him. His legacy of kindness and generosity, and love for adventure and time spent with family, will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Special thanks to Dr. David Chapman and his office for many years of dedicated care and support, and the team at Langley Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
A memorial golf tournament (please contact the family with your intent to attend) and celebration of life will be held on July 11, 2023, at Brookswood Baptist Church to honour his birthday. It will be a day of laughter, love and remembrance, just as Barry would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer's Society, or a charity of your choice would also be appreciated.
Rest In Peace, Barry.
You will be missed dearly but
your memory will live on forever.
