Langley RCMP are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect who evaded police during an arrest in Aldergrove on Thursday, June 6.
Around 10 a.m., Langley RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area because it had two different licence plates – one on the front different from the one on the rear bumper – neither of which belong to the vehicle.
Mounties initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle, a white BMW SUV, which then rammed into two police cars in response before it was "disabled," said Cpl. Zynal Sharoom.
"The passenger immediately surrendered an was arrested without incident, however the driver fled the area on foot," he said.
Police dogs were used to try and track the remaining suspect.
Due to the close proximity the incident occurred to Parkside Centennial Elementary, Cpl. Craig van Herk said a hold and secure was put in place for the school.
A hold and secure involves everyone remaining inside the school while exterior doors are secured. No one can enter or leave the school during such an event.
The suspicious vehicle was towed from the scene.
Police searched the CCTV footage of the area and have released photos of the suspect.
Anyone with information of the individual or of the incident are asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file 2024-17535.
