Langley RCMP are looking for a suspected drunk driver who fled the scene after crashing into a tree near 200th Street and 66th Avenue early Sunday morning, Oct. 1.
Sgt. Gordie Ng said officers were responding to a report, at 4:45 a.m., of a speeding vehicle in the area that was driving erratically.
Multiple police vehicles responded.
“The vehicle that was speeding, we believe [the driver] to be impaired, and as we were looking for the vehicle, it collided with a tree and uprooted it,” Sgt. Ng told the Langley Advance Times.
The driver fled the scene, heading east on 66th Avenue, but the vehicle, said to be an SUV, was located, and Ng said officers are looking for the driver who fled the scene, described as wearing a black and red t shirt.
“We’ve towed the vehicle and the file is under investigation. We’re trying to track down who the registered owner is,” Ng said.
No injuries were reported.
