Langley’s Walmart store is hosting its second food drive to benefit the Langley Food Bank on Saturday, March 23.

Jared Evans, assistant manager at Walmart Langley, said it’s important to support the local organizations that look after people in the community.

“Too many Canadian families lack access to affordable, safe, and nutritious food. That’s why Walmart Canada works with food banks to fight food insecurity and hunger,” he said.

The food drive will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Walmart entrance, located at 20202 66th Ave.

“It’s great to help those in need, as the need is growing daily all around us,” Evans said.

“We hope to raise awareness and encourage Canadians to take action and donate generously to strengthen our local community food banks.”

People can also drop off donations to the Langley Food Bank at #10-20308 Logan Ave. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. People can reach the food bank at 604-533-0671.

This is the new location for the Langley Food Bank, which is holding an open house celebration on Thursday, April 18, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Sources Langley Food Bank, 5492 Production Blvd., is also accepting donations on site Mondays to Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Fridays 9 a.m. to noon. For questions, people can call 604-532-5290.
