Langley hockey team to host ‘Sharma Night’ to honour teen killed in crash with 2 friends

Dec. 30 will raise funds for a scholarship in Ronin Sharma’s name

The Langley Rivermen hockey team will host Sharma Night on Saturday, Dec. 30 to honour Ronin Sharma as they face off against the Surrey Eagles.

Sharma was killed Aug. 21, 2021, in an early-morning car crash that also claimed the lives of his friends Parker Magnuson and Caleb Reimer, on 104th Avenue in the Fraser Heights area.

The game will start at 7:15 p.m. at George Preston Recreation Centre.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go toward the Ronin Sharma Foundation and to a scholarship the Langley Rivermen present to a player in Ronin’s name.

The Ronin Sharma Foundation hosted the inaugural Ronin Sharma Memorial Tournament in July 2022.

The four-division tournament aims to honour “Ronin’s hockey legacy and passion for hockey through hosting a fun, fair and safe tournament for the hockey community,” notes a post on Ronin Sharma Foundation’s website.
