When something’s stored too high and out of reach, you use a step-ladder. So when a sound is too quiet, you turn up the volume, right? Well, sometimes it’s not that simple.

“Hearing is not ‘one-size-fits-all,’ it’s different for everyone. So if you need hearing aids it’s important to go to a professional who can customize the sound and fit to your ears,” says Kim Galick, owner of Ears Hearing Clinic in Langley.

Kim Stepney experienced that difference first-hand, when she got new hearing aids for her mother-in-law.

“Ears Hearing Clinics in Langley really came through! We just came back from getting new hearing aids for my (almost 100-year-old) mother-in-law. Kim Galick, the owner, assessed her very thoroughly and meticulously adjusted the settings. Today, on the way home, my mother-in-law said that she could hear the wind and the birds… and would we please stop yelling at her? What a relief after many years of almost being unable to communicate with her, in spite of (very high end) hearing aids provided by a different company. I would highly recommend this clinic.”

“Hearing aids are fit by a prescription obtained through the hearing evaluation. They are specifically adjusted to each person’s hearing loss and needs,” Galick says. “When a person is first fit with hearing aids, we have a starting point. We then have an extensive follow up plan where we see our clients every one to two weeks for the first few months and once the client is comfortable with their hearing aids we see them every four months as part of our maintenance program.”

Hearing test results thoroughly explained

John Waet appreciated the time and attention Kim offered when testing his hearing.

“I had known for quite a while that I had a hearing problem. After an unpleasant experience at another clinic I was leery. I had read the Facebook reviews and had heard good things about Ears. I was reading the local newspaper and saw Kim’s ad and said to myself let’s do it.”

“I was impressed as soon as I walked in the door with the friendly and professional attitude. Had the hearing test and the results were explained to me thoroughly. I ordered my hearing aids with no pressure whatsoever. I have had them for about six weeks now and it’s great. Have been back for three follow up appointments, and the service couldn’t be better. I highly recommend Ears, Kim and Noella.”

“Two important parts of the hearing evaluation are determining the client’s volume needs and clarity needs,” Galick says. “Clarity is the number one comment that we hear from all of our clients…’I want to hear conversation more clearly.’ Volume loss is pretty easy to address, it’s the clarity loss that can be more difficult. Hearing aids help to improve a person’s clarity loss by helping to replace some of the lost frequencies that cause some of those words to be misheard or misunderstood.”
