Councillor Paul Albrecht has announced he will not seek the mayor’s chair for Langley City in the upcoming muncipal election.
Instead, he will once again run for a seat on council. The decision comes just days after former Langley City mayor Peter Fassbender announced he will once again run for the municipality’s highest office.
Albrecht made the announcement in an open letter to the residents of Langley City, which has been included in its entirety below:
Dear Langley City Citizens,
After much reflection and many conversations with supporters and respected members of the community, I have decided to seek re-election as councillor rather than mayor.
I have given this considerable thought over the past few weeks and feel that it is the right thing to do for both the community and my family.
If re-elected the opportunity to gain additional experience and knowledge is too great for me to ignore.
We are entering an exciting era for Langley City with great opportunities that I want to be part of.
I am proud of what we have accomplished these past four years but there is so much more to be done.
I want to thank my many supporters and hope that you can understand and respect my decision. I care deeply for our community and will always be an advocate for our residents’ best interests.
