Just in time for spring, a garden party.
The Saturday (April 20) event in the 21200 block of Fraser Highway, near the Langley Airport, is to celebrate the opening of the Langley Demonstration Garden at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum.
The Earth Day planting party will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.
Snacks and gardening tools will be provided. The Langley Demonstration Garden moved to the Arboretum after 20 years in Murrayville last fall.
Run by the Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS), the facility offers education and hands-on programs that promote safe home and garden practices such as composting, the use of native plants, and chemical-free gardening.
“A lot of people who were regulars at our Murrayville Garden are excited about coming out and putting plants in the ground” said LEPS Executive Director Nichole Marples.
“The planting party is a great way to kick off our new location.”
The landscape installation work and plant purchases for the new garden were funded in part by CN Rail’s CN EcoConnexions Program and its partners Tree Canada and Communities in Bloom.
