Langley Township firefighters were called to a honey farm on Monday morning, but fortunately did not encounter any bees while putting out a shed fire.
Assistant chief Pat Walker say the call came in at 5:43 a.m. to a farm at 26463 13 Avenue, south of Aldergrove. The fire was confined to a couple of sheds at the rear of the property.
The farm raises bees and gathers honey. The fire broke out in a shed used to process the honey, which contained a stove and freezer.
Walker said damage was about $5,000, and is thankful that the smoke and distance kept bees away while firefighters were putting the fire out.
