Burst water pipe floods Topham Elementary

District hopeful that classes can resume Monday, but urge parents to check the website

A broken water main has flooded Topham Elementary, temporarily closing the Walnut Grove school.

It was sometime Tuesday night that a water main broke in the mechanical room, subsequently flooding every corner of the school.

Parents arrived to drop of their children on Wednesday morning but found the school had turned into a work site.

For Thursday and Friday, students and staff were being bused to Lynn Fripps Elementary for the day and returned to Topham at the end of the day. Empty classrooms and the multi-purpose room were being used there.

Langley School District is ‘hopeful’ to have classes back in session on Monday, but they are asking that parents check the district website for updates at www.sd35.bc.ca before dropping kids off on Monday.
