Classic cars and motorcycles are out of hibernation with the arrival of spring weather.
On Saturday, May 2, the Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Club’s Ride for the Kids kicks off. Formerly the Gord Heppler Memorial Run, the ride was first held in 1993, and heads through the Fraser Valley.
Gord Heppler was a member of the GVMC who died of cancer at the age of 44 in 1992. The ride benefits kids fighting cancer.
All proceeds of the run go to the B.C. Children’s Hospital, and over more than two decades, the ride has raised more than $170,000.
The ride starts at the GVMC Club House at 9785 192nd St., and costs $20 per person.
Sign up is 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and a $5 pancake breakfast is at 9 a.m.
On Sunday, starting at 10 a.m., is the annual D.W. Poppy Car Show, at the secondary school at 23752 52nd Ave.
The car show has been running for 28 years, and features a plethora of classic and custom cars, vendors, food, prizes, a pancake breakfast by the Langley Lions, and a 50/50 draw.
The event runs until 3 p.m.
All proceeds from the event go to support school programs.
Admission is by minimum $3 donation.
