Chop shop busted

RCMP tasked with countering auto theft arrested two men, one of them in Langley.

Police say this building south of Cloverdale was being used as a chop shop for pickup trucks.

Two men are under arrest after police raided what they say was a chop shop for stolen pickup trucks south of Cloverdale on Oct. 13.

Police descended on the property in the 2300 block of 176th Street.

The raid was carried out by the Integrated Municipal Police Auto Crime Team (IMPACT) wight he Surrey RCMP, ICBC, the Emergency Response Team, Lower Mainland Dog Service, and the the RCMP helicopter.

Two men have been arrested, one in Surrey, one in Langley.

“Most vehicles stolen in BC are recovered so it is unusual to find an operation like this where stolen vehicles are being dismantled and reassembled to appear as a legitimate vehicle,” said Insp. Peter Jadis, officer in charge of IMPACT.
