City of Langley will hold byelection Feb. 27

Vote will be held to fill seat vacated by Coun. Dave Hall who stepped down due to a battle with cancer

Langley City Councillor Dave Hall announced his resignation from office on Monday night, via a prepared release. He was not in attendance at the meeting. Hall, who has served on council for seven years is facing a 'significant' battle with cancer.

For perhaps the first time in its 60-year history, the City of Langley is holding a byelection.

The announcement comes after Coun. Dave Hall resigned his seat in November, due to a battle with cancer.

The byelection for a new councillor will be held on Feb. 27, 2016, with several advanced polling stations available two weeks prior.

The nomination period is open from Jan. 12 to 22, and nomination packages are available now at City Hall, 20399 Douglas Cres.

According to records that date back to 1993, no byelection has been held in the City of Langley prior to this.
