Langley Mounties are looking for the person who blasted a crowd at the downtown bus loop with pepper spray Tuesday evening.

At about 6:15 p.m., a vehicle drove by people waiting for a bus at the Logan Avenue bus loop and fired the pepper spray from the vehicle, said Sgt. Alexandra Mulvihill, a spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.

At least one of the youths waiting at the stop knew the attacker, who is also thought to be another youth.

“It was a targeted attack, it was not random,” said Mulvihill.

Police have spoken to witnesses and are looking for the driver or owner of the vehicle involved.

Langley City fire fighters responded to give medical aid to the people exposed to pepper spray.

“There were a lot of people who had awfully red faces,” said City fire chief Rory Thompson.

Firefighters helped pour water over people’s eyes and faces and cleaned their hands to decontaminate them.

Thompson said he didn’t believe anyone had to be taken to hospital.

Several people commented on the Langley Advance’s Facebook page that they had been hit with the pepper spray.

Another reader reported that the gym across the street had the pepper spray coming in their windows and doors after the incident.
