Former Langley Township councillor and Canadian Alliance candidate Dean Drysdale has added his name to the list of those seeking the Conservative nomination in the new Cloverdale-Langley City riding.
In his announcement that he will seek the nomination, he said he wants small government, low taxes and balanced budgets. A strong military and justice system were his other priorities, Drysdale said.
Drysdale has been a business instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University for 20 years at the Surrey campus, and has been a member of the Canadian Army Reserves for 33 years.
He served on Township council between 1996 and 2002, as part of the Langley Leadership Team.
Due to his knowledge of French, Drysdale was parachuted into the riding of Vaudreuil-Soulanges in the 2000 federal election.
He came third, taking 8.2 per cent of the vote, behind a victorious Liberal candidate and the second-place Bloc Quebecois.
A number of other potential candidates have also sought the Conservative nomination, including former Surrey MLA Dave Hayer, and Paul Brar.
The new riding was recently created due to population growth in the Langley and Surrey area.
