Employee tackles thief who makes off with expensive cellphones

Langley RCMP are hoping the public can study the surveillance photo of the suspect and help identify him.

This man is suspected in robbing the Langley Future Shop of two Samsung Galaxy phones on Monday (Oct. 7).

A Future Shop employee tackled a thief after he tried to walk out of the store with two Samsung Galaxy S4s, valued at $1,400 on Monday morning.

Langley RCMP are hoping the public can help identify the man suspected in this theft.

According to police, around 10:30 a.m., a man entered the Future Shop wearing a black hoody, sunglasses and black pants.  He proceeded to the cellphone area and almost immediately, the alarms began sounding.  The suspect took two phones attached to security electronic wires.  He attempted to exit the store and was tackled by one of the employees.  Two others attempted to pry the Samsung Galaxy S4s out of his hands to no avail, said police.

As the struggle continued, a second manexited a blue Dodge Neon (found to be stolen out of Hope) and threatened the employees unless they let his friend go.  The employees complied and the suspect fled in the Neon.

The driver of the vehicle was described as shorter, with very short blonde hair, muscular and in his 20s.
